Legacy in Landscape is a recollection of places and people that have made a lasting impression and influenced my life. I think back nostalgically, if I were able to return to those days, things would still be as easy as they once were.

We are all confronted with situations or experiences that leave lasting impressions on us. These can either be good or bad, and we all choose to deal with them in our own way. I have chosen to paint some of these experiences of life’s little journeys.

In this exhibition the subjects I have chosen to paint are important to me, whether they are complex or simple things in life. They may not be the most important things that I have experienced, but it has been a great journey to add paint to these memories.

I have utilised the landscape as a tool to illustrate visual representations of the people and places that have left a lasting impression in my life. It allows me to express my perception of and sentiment toward these experiences. As in the landscape, life branches out into different pathways and journeys. This exhibition expresses some of the journeys I have taken and thoughts of people that continue to be important in my life.

I have used oils and mixed media in my works, building up layers of paint and other materials to create textured, tactile surfaces.
