John Deane

John DeaneI work with a broad outline. Hit and miss – trial by error until I find my way. I like working with silver, making small precious art objects which double as semi functional jewellery. I also create larger sculptural pieces using various materials and found objects. Living and working in the Bay Islands influences the work I create.

Mosquito 2005. A common species that lurks around rubbish. I created this one from found objects from the local ‘tip’ and have no doubt that there are many more mosquitos camouflaged, pretending to be rubbish.

Bay Islands 2005. The many islands and channels are home to some incredible land, sea and air creatures. The sea turtle being one of them. Look and you will find him.
