Troy Robbins

Troy RobbinsMy work is heavily influenced by my love and respect for the greater environment, especially the marine environs of Moreton Bay. As a resident of 26 years in the Redlands, I have seen the positive and negative impacts that weave throughout the bay and its maze of islands. The folk in the Redlands seem conspicuous and detached from the primeval elements of wind and water. For me, salt water is my blood type.

I find that my work is indelibly codified with conscious and subconscious reference points to geographical features which meander through my proactive thought processes. Island beaches, flood tides, marine creatures and vegetation endemic to Moreton Bay, ground my physical being to the process of creating my art in a tangible/abstract creation of images, forms and words that reflect my means of expression.

My workshop is located in the last remaining rural/bushland area that borders the southern boundaries of the Redlands. This land abounds with native flora and fauna threatened by the expansion of the urban footprint. As an artist, I feel compelled to strenuously defend the ecological beauty and diversity that compliments the marine environment by producing work that subtly draws inspiration from both ecosystems that underpin the life force of our existence.
