Celebrating 25 Years of  Australian Art

23 April - 4 June 2006
Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland, Gallery 1, 2, 3, 4

Artbank, the Australian Government's art rental initiative, has promoted and supported Australian Art since its inception in 1980. This exhibition contains artworks that form a distinct snapshot of the art and craft produced in Australia over the last 25 years. Artbank has more than 9000 artworks produced by almost 3000 artists representing each state and territory.

Artworks from Artbank's collection are displayed in offices and foyers around Australia as well as in Australian embassies overseas. Many of the great names of Australian contemporary art are included in this exhibition.

Artbank: Celebrating 25 Years of Australian Art promotes the artistic achievement of Australian artists. It supports and assists the collection and public display of the visual arts in Australia, and contributes to a better understanding of contemporary art. Artbank is part of the Australian Government Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.

This exhibition is supported by Visions of Australia, an Australian Government program supporting touring exhibitions by providing funding assistance for the development and touring of cultural material across Australia.
