While Others Sleep features photographic works by eight photographers who were given free rein to invade Brisbane’s luxurious Hotel Conrad’s rooms, floors, and staircases, hijacking the odd staff member or two and illuminating dark recesses in response to a brief given by curator Naomi Mendoza.

The results are a dramatic collection of images that peep into the lives of mysterious hotel guests. Open-ended in narrative and dark in tone the photographic stills resonate with a filmic quality reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock’s tense thrillers or the dark humour of David Lynch’s film noir.
