Main Beach

Directions from ferry terminal:  From the ferry head up the hill continue straight ahead along Mallon Street which becomes Tazi Road.  Follow Tazi Road right across the island past the turnoffs to Brown Lake and the North Stradbroke Golf Course until you reach Main Beach.

Alternatively travel up the hill from the barge past the information centre turn left into Ballow Road. Follow the road around to the right where it becomes the Bingle Road/East Coast Road for 19 km. Turn right onto George Nothling Drive, Point Lookout.  The beach is 2km down this road.  

Description of camping ground:  Camping areas commence 7.5km south of the causeway and tracks are designated by red numbered zone signs.

This camping area is for four wheel drives (4WD) only. It can only be accessed by driving along the beach. A 4WD permit is required. The cost of an annual 4WD permit is in addition to the camping fees detailed below. Click here for more information on 4WDs on Straddie >>

There are no facilities so bring everything you need for this back to nature camping experience.

Enjoy 35 km of golden sanded, sub-tropical, Pacific Ocean beach whilst camping under the Southern Cross. Fish from the beach at your camp site or just watch the annual whale migration. Dogs are allowed but only on a leash.
