4WDs on Straddie beaches

Four wheel driving along Main and Flinders Beach on North Stradbroke Island is a popular pastime for many people.

To ensure Straddie stays beautiful, we have introduced 4WD beach access permits. A yearly permit costs $44.50 and revenue raised goes into beach regeneration work.

There are also new restrictions which don't permit 4WD's to move along the beaches around high tide. No traffic movement is allowed on beaches - even with a permit - for a two hour period around high tide: from an hour before until an hour after the tide peaks.
