Macleay/Perulpa Islands

Macleay Island’s unique geographical features means it adjoins tiny Perulpa Island – a double reason to explore the beaches.

Perulpa, which means ‘the island off the island’ is joined to Macleay by a causeway and has a small number of houses, a few of which are available for rent.

Swimming, fishing, boating, a stroll along the beach or a walk through the small stand of native rainforest offer relaxing options for passing the time.

A road runs through the centre of Macleay from the ferry terminal in the south to Pat's Park picnic and swimming area to the north, where you can throw a few  prawns on the barbie and enjoy the panoramic bay views.

Other locations are Corroboree Place, Thompson's Point at the end of Wharf Street and Potts Point, which has a sandy beach and swimming enclosure. This is best visited at high tide.

Macleay itself has more than 2000 permanent residents and is a relaxed and peaceful destination for a day trip or short break. Local shops, cafes and tavern can help you with essential supplies.
