Fishing on Straddie
North Stradbroke Island has something to suit everyone with the calm waters of Moreton Bay on one side, the rich Coral Sea and the magnificent South Pacific Ocean on the other.
A keen angler or weekend fisherman can usually find a good place to cast a line.
The jetty at Amity Point is a popular spot. It faces the Rainbow Channel, which is around 20 metres deep and ideal for tuna or mackeral between September to February. Main and Flinders foreshore draws its fair share of anglers, especially when the gutters are running. Catch tailor, whiting, flathead or bream straight off the beach.
There are also offshore fishing charters available. Check out the Marine based tours for options.
