Around 2km by bitumen road from ferry. Short trail to water’s edge.

Easy, viewed mainly from roadside. Dogs, horses and bicycles are not permitted.

Wildlife of interest

A range of mangrove and tidal birds including little egrets, spoonbills and ibis.

Plants of interest

Todea barbara or King fern, a large short trunked tree fern can be seen from the roadside. Sometimes visitors can be lucky enough to see the endangered and strictly protected, red-flowering swamp-orchid, Phaius australis from the roadside during September. An occasional golden swamp orchid Phaius bernaysii can also been seen.
