Sunday By The Bay

Want a leisurely day with lots of variety? Spend your Sunday by the bay!

Leave the car at home and head east on the train to Cleveland where the Art and Craft markets offer a range of crafts, art, activities, plants and specialty foods.

Many of the shops along Bloomfield and Middle Street are open on the weekends, so market-goers can also browse through the shops selling fashion, fine foods, health and books.

Explore Cleveland on foot. Pick up a copy of Cleveland Art Walk PDF [PDF 2.4MB] from Redland Art Gallery and follow the trail of sculptures, street mosaics, poetry and water features.

If you're a history enthusiast, the Heritage Trail PDF [PDF 1.2MB] is a must-do. Visit the museum or war memorial. The Redland Museum at 60, Smith Street, is a treasure trove of artefacts recording the Redland's social history from 1842 to the present day. It is is open Sunday 10am-4pm. Entry fees are $3.30 (adult), $2.20 (concession) and $1.10 (children).

Enjoy lunch at one of the many interesting hotels in Cleveland. There's Grand View Hotel - Queensland's oldest licensed hotel - a short way out from the town centre on North Street with picturesque views of Moreton Bay. It is famous for its seafood and steaks.

Don’t want to go quite that far? Bring a picnic and have it at one of the parks nearby. Alternatively, the town centre has a range of indoor and outdoor cafes and restaurants open on Sundays. Enjoy a meal at one of the pavement cafes and watch the world go by as you enjoy Sunday by the bay.
