The Redlands is one of the most biologically diverse areas of Queensland with an abundance of sub-tropical plants and animals. The wildlife habitats range from tall eucalypt forest to fresh and saltwater wetlands and island ecosystems.

We are home to 1,700 recorded native species of plants and animals, including koalas, migratory shorebirds, scribbly gum forests and flying foxes. Learn more about wildlife in the Redlands.

The Redland IndigiScapes Centre is a Council-run environmental education centre. It has a visitor and information centre, botanical gardens and natural bushland. The centre is located at 17 Runnymede Road, Capalaba and is open 10am to 4pm Tuesdays to Sundays. It regularly runs bushcare workshops and walks. Plant sales are held every first Saturday of the month.

If you enjoy being outdoors and meeting like-minded people, join one of our community bushcare groups. Bushcare volunteers spend a few hours a month to help plant trees, remove trees and rubbish, monitor wildlife and waterways.
