Services for Seniors  

Our libraries provide a range of resources and services to meet the needs of seniors and other people in our community with special needs.

The Outreach Services team supply informational, recreational and educational demands to:
  • remote users
  • housebound residents
  • visually impaired people
  • people who speak and/or read books in languages other than English and
  • people with numeracy and literacy difficulties.

Home Library Service

  
The Home Library Service provides resources to people who are unable to leave their homes due to illness or disability, or because they are full time carers. 
 
Clients receive a regular delivery of books to their home. If you think you qualify for this service phone us on 3829 8761.

Visually Impaired Resources

  
Clients who are visually impaired can access a special collection of talking books and magazines.

Library resources are selected for you on a regular basis and can be collected from any mainland branch, including the mobile library. If you think you qualify for this service phone 3829 8761.

Resources available  


Reading Edge is a machine that reads books in eight different voices and has selected speeds. Some training is required. This machine is available for use in both the Cleveland and Capalaba library. Bookings are recommended. Phone 3829 8761.

Aladdin Magnifier

 
The Aladdin Magnifier enables people to read mail or bank statements in privacy. It is available at the Cleveland library.

Videos with subtitles  

Videos with subtitles are available for people with a hearing impairment.

Cassette & CD Players

Cassette & CD Players may be borrowed for up to three months. For bookings phone 3829 8761 or 3829 8423.
