Immunisation
Why immunise?
Immunisation has saved tens of thousands of Australian children from death and handicap. Routine childhood vaccination has almost eliminated poliomyelitis, tetanus and diphtheria. Measles is now uncommon.
Whooping cough has been greatly reduced, and we can look forward to the elimination of Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib) disease, mumps, and congenital rubella syndrome.
