How to Get to Redlands

From Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast

When travelling from Brisbane, most areas in the Redlands can be accessed from Old Cleveland Road/Finucane Road.

To get there: Travel south along the South East Freeway, take the Vulture Street exit, and follow Vulture Street for approximately 3km until you come to Cavendish Road, turn right, follow for approximately 800m, then turn left into Old Cleveland Road.

Follow Old Cleveland Road (it becomes Finucane Road in Capalaba) all the way to the Redland Shire. 

Capalaba to Redlands

The first suburb you will get to as you travel along Old Cleveland Road – 16km from the city centre. 

Alexandra Hills to Redlands

The next suburb past Capalaba – 19km from the city centre. As Alexandra Hills begins, Old Cleveland Road becomes Finucane Road. 

Birkdale to Redlands

As you travel along Old Cleveland Road through Capalaba, turn left into Old Cleveland Road East (major intersection). This road cuts through Birkdale – 18km from the city centre. 

Thorneside to Redlands

As you travel along Old Cleveland Road East, turn at the major roundabout after the shops for Thorneside (17+ kms from the city centre). Turn left into Quarry Road and follow the signs for the Western part of Thorneside, or turn right and continue along Birkdale Road for the Eastern part of Thorneside. 

Wellington Point to Redlands

Wellington Point is a fairly large area, and can be accessed from several points along Finucane Road. It is 20+ kms from the city centre. The major roads leading into Wellington Point, which run off Finucane Road are Allenby Road, McDonald Road, Delancey Street and Wellington Street. 

Cleveland to Redlands

Continue along Finucane Road, following the signs to Cleveland. As you enter Cleveland, Finucane Road becomes Shore St West. The first part of Cleveland that you come to includes car yards and large retailers. This area is 23kms from the city centre. An additional shopping area in Cleveland is along Bloomfield and Middle Streets – to access this shopping area, turn right at the roundabout just before the train station. 

Mt Cotton to Redlands

Follow Wellington Street, Cleveland, and follow the signs to Mt Cotton – 24+ kms from the city centre. As you drive along, the road becomes Panorama Drive and then Woodlands Drive. At the end of Woodlands Drive, turn left into Mt Cotton Road. This is the main access point for Mt Cotton businesses and attractions. 

Victoria Point to Redlands

Victoria Point can be reached by either turning right at Capalaba, into Mt Cotton Road, and following the signs all the way to Victoria Point (29kms from city centre); or by following Bloomfield Street, Cleveland (which becomes Cleveland-Redland Bay Road) until you reach Colburn Avenue. Turn left into Colburn Avenue to reach the main part of Victoria Point. Victoria Point is the gateway to Coochiemudlo Island. 

Redland Bay to Redlands

Drive along Cleveland-Redland Bay Road, through Victoria Point, and keep going until you reach Boundary Road. Turn left and follow the signs to Weinam Creek Marina for transfers to the Bay Islands / other Redland Bay businesses and attractions. Continue along Cleveland-Redland Bay Road (which becomes Gordon Road) for other areas in Redland Bay. Redland Bay is 30km from the city centre. 

From the Gold Coast

Travel north along the Pacific Highway, and take the Cleveland/Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road exit (about 1km beyond the Ipswich Motorway exit). Redland Bay / Victoria Point / ClevelandFollow Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road for approx 20km. You will come to Redland Bay first (on your right), then Victoria Point, and the road ends at Cleveland. You can also get to Thornlands, Ormiston and eastern parts of Wellington Point via this road. Mount Cotton / Capalaba / Alexandra Hills / Birkdale / Thorneside / Wellington Point.Drive along Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road for approximately 4.5km, then turn left into Mount Cotton Road. Mount Cotton starts approximately 4km along this road. At the lights at teh intersection of Mt Cotton Road and Duncan Road, go straight ahead for Alexandra Hills, and turn left for the other areas mentioned above.
