Koala Bushland Coordinated Conservation Area


Includes Venman National Park, Don and Christine Burnett Park, Ford Rd Conservation Area, Neville Lawrie Reserve and Daisy Hill State Forest.

Facilities

Toilets, car park and picnic area at Venman National Park near entrance off West Mt Cotton Rd. Free street parking for cars in Avalon Rd for Ford Rd Reserve and on Ford Rd for Don and Christine Burnett Conservation Area.

Access

Venman National Park entry from West Mt Cotton Rd. Don and Christine Burnett Conservation Area from the corner of Avalon and Ford Rds. Other entry points off Avalon and Fords Rds.

Walk

Easy to difficult. There is an extensive network of trails throughout these reserves which connect to Daisy Hill State Forest and Neville Lawrie Reserve. Dogs prohibited. Horses and mountain bikes permitted on some trails. Note: Venman National Park managed by Queensland National Parks and Wildlife.

What to see

Most of the area is a mixture of spotted gum and grey gum forest with some areas of Melaleuca wetland and rainforest creek margins.

What to do

Extensive walking, horse riding, mountain biking and bird-watching. Horse riding and mountain bikes are not permitted in the National Park.

Wildlife of interest

Good range of small forest birds, koalas, lace monitors, redneck and swamp wallabies.

Plants of interest

Tall grass tree flowers are spectacular in winter, three clumps of Brisbane mallee, Eucalyptus curtisii in Don and Christine Burnett Conservation Area, rainforest plants along Buhot Creek are diverse and there are magnificent examples of old growth grey gums in Ford Rd Reserve.
